2.Kakay and Kokoi Berame
Hi! We are Kakai and Kokoi Berame. Kakai is 7 and Kokoi is 6. At our young age we started to love animals. Our Tatay Dodong is fond of rearing fighting cocks while Nanay Ellen looks after our cute dog “toytoy”.
We always wanted to have fish in the house. We buy guppy and mollies in sidewalk vendors in our school. With our Kuya Daven and Kuya Jayjay, we grew them in an improvised pond made of old tarpauline and scrap woods from our backyard.
One day in November 2009, Tatay surprised us with our first batch of koi, 6 kois to be exact. Tatay converted an old cabinet into our first koi pond. We love the koi so much and after a month we a number of kois to the pond. We even give names to some of them to easily identify them. They are “Ann”, “Beautiful”, “Lipstick”, “White-Black”, “Kakaiba” etc.
Now, the small collection becomes a bigger school of koi fish. There are more than 70 kois and now with two bigger concrete ponds. One a smaller tiled rectangular pond to highly appreciate the colors of the kois and the other one, an L-type pond with much bigger size. Tatay and Nanay continuously do research on growing koi and good filtration.
They say growing kois would give us luck. We can say it is true. Feeding the kois becomes a bonding moment to our family. We stay longer hours beside the pond as we enjoy watching them having fun in our ponds.
We are inviting everyone to grow kois at home. Nanay said it helps us relax and do away with stress from work and school.
Enjoy!
